About Australia Plains
Australia Plains is a rural locality in the Mid North region of South Australia, about 127 kilometres north-east of Adelaide in the Regional Council of Goyder. Its name comes from the Australia Huts, pine and daub shelters used by drovers and shepherds that appear on early pastoral lease plans. The settlement grew during the 1880s on the traditional lands of the Ngadjuri people, and retains a former Lutheran church and school.
