About Northfield
Northfield is a northern suburb of Adelaide, located approximately 10 kilometres from the city centre within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. First recorded in 1852, the suburb is historically significant as the site of Yatala Labour Prison, built in 1854 to enable prisoners to quarry stone at Dry Creek. Today Northfield is a multicultural residential suburb.
