About Kudla

Kudla is a semi-rural locality in the northern Adelaide suburbs, situated 34 kilometres from the city centre just south of Gawler in the Town of Gawler. The name derives from the Kaurna Aboriginal word meaning level ground or open, and was coined in 1947 by anthropologist Norman Tindale for new sidings along the Gawler railway line. Kudla railway station opened in 1959 and the locality was formally proclaimed as a suburb in 1984.
