About Cudlee Creek
Cudlee Creek is a small town in the Adelaide Hills, 30 kilometres north-east of Adelaide on Gorge Road via Athelstone. The name derives from the Kaurna word kadli, meaning Dingo Creek. First settled in 1838 by William Kelly from the Isle of Man, the area became a significant fruit-growing district and a prominent cold store was built in 1922 for a fruit-growers' cooperative. The town is a gateway to the Heysen Trail and the Fox Creek mountain bike network, and is home to the privately owned Gorge Wildlife Park.
