About Tarong
Tarong is a rural locality in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, known as the site of the Tarong Power Station and its adjoining Meandu coal mine. The name comes from a pastoral run first used in 1850, probably derived from the Aboriginal word tarum, meaning wild lime tree, and the heritage-listed Tarong Homestead lies within the locality.
