About Taromeo
Taromeo is a rural locality about eight kilometres north of Blackbutt in the South Burnett Region. Taromeo Station, established in 1842 by Simon Scott, is one of the earliest pastoral properties in the Wide Bay-Burnett area, and its homestead complex including a stone house, butcher's shop and cedar stables was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992. Benarkin State Forest covers the eastern part of the locality.
