About Benarkin
Benarkin is a small town on the Balfour Range in the South Burnett region of Queensland, about 3.5 km east of Blackbutt on the D'Aguilar Highway. The settlement grew around the railway station built to serve Blackbutt, which was named Benarkin in 1910 after an Aboriginal word for the blackbutt tree. With Blackbutt it is often treated as the twin towns of Blackbutt-Benarkin, and the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail passes through the locality.
