About Glastonbury

Glastonbury is a rural town about 17 kilometres west-south-west of Gympie along Glastonbury Creek in the Wide Bay region. Settled after the Chatsworth gold rush of 1869, the area has a short-lived local goldfield from 1886 to 1887 and a history of banana cultivation and dairying. Glastonbury National Park, gazetted in 2001, features sandstone cliffs, eucalypt forests and riparian zones adjacent to Brooyar State Forest.
