About Gilldora
Gilldora is a small rural locality in the Mary Valley in the Gympie Region of Queensland, approximately 4 kilometres south of Gympie. The Mary River forms its north-eastern and eastern boundaries, and the landscape comprises river flats and low hills used for grazing and cropping. The Mary Valley railway line passes through the locality, and the Mary Valley Rattler tourist train operates along this route. The name was coined in 1922 from a local resident's name combined with an Aboriginal word meaning pleasant place.
