About Downsfield

Downsfield is a small rural locality in the Gympie Region of Queensland, situated in the hinterland approximately 19 kilometres northeast of Gympie. The grazing and mixed farming properties are typical of the broader Gympie district, which has a long history of timber-getting and agriculture along the Mary River. The Downsfield State School operated from 1918 to 1966, and the Sandy Creek Hall served the community for many decades before being sold in 2018, reflecting the locality's enduring but quiet rural character.
