About Bundaberg West

Bundaberg West is a residential and hospital precinct suburb of Bundaberg in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, located one kilometre west of the Bundaberg CBD and 371 kilometres north of Brisbane. The suburb is home to the Bundaberg Base Hospital, Mater Misericordiae Hospital and the Friendly Society Private Hospital. The Mater Hospital, established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1946, was the first hospital in Queensland to use a Zeiss ophthalmic microscope and the first regional hospital in Queensland to have a lymphoedema clinic. Heritage-listed sites include the Bundaberg War Nurses Memorial and Alexandra Park.
