About Picnic Bay
Picnic Bay is a town on the southern shore of Magnetic Island, part of the City of Townsville, Queensland. Tourism to the bay began with the Butler family in 1877, and for more than a century visitors arrived on vessels of the Hayles company. The heritage-listed Picnic Bay Jetty, opened in October 1959, is the third jetty to stand on the site.
