About Julago
Julago is a rural locality in the City of Townsville in north Queensland, bisected by the Bruce Highway and the North Coast railway line. The name comes from the Julago railway station, established in 1942 as an emergency crossing loop during the Second World War, and reportedly means plains turkey in an Aboriginal language. Much of the locality is cattle-grazing country, and it is earmarked for a large masterplanned residential development.
