About Noosa Heads

Noosa Heads is a coastal town and suburb in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, on the Sunshine Coast, known for its surf beach, Hastings Street and the nearby Noosa National Park. The name comes from a Kabi Kabi word meaning shadow or shady place. The village was surveyed in 1879 and was reachable only by boat until the 1930s, before growing into one of Australia's best-known holiday destinations.
