About Kin Kin
Kin Kin is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, about 160 kilometres north of Brisbane between Pomona and Gympie in the UNESCO Noosa Biosphere. The name is most widely believed to mean plenty of black ants in the local Aboriginal language, and small black ants are celebrated locally with a large ant sculpture outside the general store. The town serves as a hub for Lake Cootharaba and the Great Sandy National Park, while Woondum National Park with its eucalypt forest and rainforest lies to the west, and Kin Kin Creek runs through the area.
