About Federal (Qld)
Federal is a rural locality in the Shire of Noosa in Queensland's Sunshine Coast hinterland, near the towns of Cooran and Pomona. Originally known as Skyring Creek, after brothers who established cattle runs there in the 1850s, it was renamed Federal when a group of selectors from Federal in New South Wales arrived in 1905. The heritage-listed Federal State School opened in 1910 and the Federal Memorial Hall in 1930, and the Bruce Highway runs through the area.
