Black Mountain is a rural locality in the Shire of Noosa in Queensland, located 17.5 kilometres west of Tewantin and 132 kilometres north of Brisbane. Presumably named after the mountain Black Mountain at 312 metres in the centre of the locality which has communications towers on its peak. The Bruce Highway in freeway standard forms part of the northern boundary and the North Coast railway line touches the northeast boundary. The former Black Mountain State School building operated from 1913 to 1961 and is now a residence, closing temporarily in 1919 due to the Spanish flu. Land use is a mix of rural residential in the north and east and rural grazing and forestry in the south and west. The locality was part of the Sunshine Coast Region from 2008 to 2013 before the Shire of Noosa was re-established.
