About Sommariva

Sommariva is a locality in the Shire of Murweh in south-western Queensland, on the Warrego Highway between Charleville and Morven. It takes its name from a railway station named in 1911 after an adjacent pastoral property, itself believed to be named after the Italian town of Sommariva in Piedmont. The Roma-Cunnamulla railway line crosses the locality and includes the heritage-listed Angellala Rail Bridge. Sommariva is also the site of outback Queensland's only commercial olive grove.
