About Mount Carbine

Mount Carbine is a remote rural town and locality in the Shire of Mareeba, bounded to the east by the Great Dividing Range ridge. Much of the locality lies within protected areas including Mount Windsor, Mount Lewis and Mount Spurgeon National Parks, as well as the Brooklyn Sanctuary operated by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, and the town grew from wolfram mining discovered around 1890.
