About Howitt
Howitt is a vast, sparsely populated coastal locality in the Shire of Carpentaria in Queensland's Gulf Country, about 31 kilometres north-north-east of Normanton and 40 kilometres east of Karumba. It features flat floodplains, tropical wetlands and seasonal watercourses on the western coast of Cape York Peninsula facing the Gulf of Carpentaria, and is one of Australia's most remote localities.
