About Gilberton (Etheridge - Qld)
Gilberton is a remote rural locality in the Shire of Etheridge in northern Queensland. It is an isolated area with remnants of former mine sites, within the Gilbert River catchment named after explorer Ludwig Leichhardt's expedition member John Gilbert. The landscape is open savannah country in the Gulf Savannah region.
