About Boulia
Boulia is an outback town and locality in the Shire of Boulia in far western Queensland, the administrative centre of the shire, about 296 km by road south of Mount Isa. The town lies on the Burke River, named after the explorer Robert O'Hara Burke, and is at the heart of the Channel Country. Its name derives from the Pitta Pitta word for a nearby waterhole, 'bool-yo'.
