About Biboohra
Biboohra is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Mareeba on Queensland's Atherton Tablelands, situated approximately 10 kilometres north of Mareeba and 69 kilometres west of Cairns. The name is believed to be an Aboriginal word for the Barron Falls, and the town takes its name from its railway station, named in 1884. The Biboohra Meatworks operated intermittently from 1896 to 1927, and today the surrounding area supports farming including grazing cattle, mangoes and sugarcane.
