About Eton
Eton is a rural town and locality in the Mackay Region of Queensland, located about 30 kilometres south-west of Mackay. Settled in 1865, three years after European settlement of Mackay, the locality features flat sugarcane country in the north and mountainous terrain rising to 650 metres at Mount Bridgman in the south. The North Eton central sugar mill operated from 1886 until 1988, and the Eton State School, established in 1883, is one of the oldest schools in the Pioneer Valley.
