About Gleneagle

Gleneagle is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region of Queensland, located 11.2 kilometres north-northwest of Beaudesert and 65.7 kilometres south of Brisbane. Named after a cotton farm called Glen Eagles established in the 1860s by William Tutin Walker who managed properties for Robert Towns, a pioneer of cotton growing in the Logan River valley, the locality is traversed by the Mount Lindesay Highway. St Joseph's Catholic Church, opened in 1876 on a site then known as Tullamore Hill, was the first Catholic church in the Logan River valley and was later dismantled, transported and reassembled at O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat in the 1950s. Lake Brabazon, a large man-made dam, is in the centre of the locality.
