About Veresdale Scrub

Veresdale Scrub is a semi-rural locality straddling the boundary of the Scenic Rim Region and the City of Logan in south-east Queensland, situated approximately 59 kilometres south of Brisbane. In 1863, Captain Robert Towns established the Townsvale cotton plantation in the area, the first in Queensland to employ Kanaka labour, and cotton from Townsvale won a gold medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1868. The Veresdale Scrub State School opened in 1899 and the locality retains its quiet rural character.
