About Blantyre
Blantyre is a small rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region of Queensland, approximately 14 kilometres north of Boonah and 78 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Named after a Scottish town by early settler James Moffatt, the locality features farming land in the valley between the Great Dividing Range and the McPherson Range. The Fassifern railway line, Queensland's first branch railway, once passed through the area with Blantyre station serving the local farming community from 1882 until the line's closure in 1964.
