About Amberley

Amberley is a suburb in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, about 40 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Named after the Sussex hometown of pioneer farmer James Collett who settled in the area in the 1850s, the suburb is best known as the home of RAAF Base Amberley, Australia's largest air force base. A school was first established on the site in 1862, making it one of the oldest state primary schools in Queensland.
