About Ormeau Hills

Ormeau Hills is a residential locality in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The name derives from the neighbouring locality of Ormeau, named after Ormeau House, the estate of Major Alexander Jenyns Boyd, a 1860s sugar planter whose wife was born at Ormeau Road in Belfast; the word "ormeau" is French for "young elm". The eastern part of the locality comprises suburban development on lower land, while the centre rises to 130 metres and is used for rural residential purposes. The western portion is mountainous, reaching up to 250 metres, and remains largely undeveloped. Davis Hill, at 298 metres, is located on the western border with Luscombe and features a radio mast at its summit. The Pacific Motorway follows a section of the locality's eastern boundary.
