About Wallumbilla

Wallumbilla is a rural town on the Warrego Highway in the Maranoa Region of Queensland, about 40 kilometres east of Roma. It grew as a service town when the Western railway line arrived in 1880 and is now a centre for grain farming and the surrounding grazing country. The name, taken from an early pastoral run, is thought to be from the local Aboriginal language meaning plenty of jew fish.
