About Texas (Qld)
Texas is a rural town and locality in the Goondiwindi Region of Queensland, on the border with New South Wales. It was settled in 1842 and named after Texas Station, whose name recalled the dispute between the United States and Mexico over the territory of Texas. Tobacco farming was once an important local industry, with crops grown in the Dumaresq Valley.
