About Springdale (Qld)
Springdale is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland, about 50 kilometres west-south-west of Stanthorpe. The terrain varies from 440 to 980 metres above sea level with peaks including Mount Emily and Black Jack Mountain. The area was historically significant for the State Arsenic Mine, operated by the Queensland Government from 1919 to 1924 to produce arsenic for prickly pear control, before biological control of the cactus eliminated the need for large supplies.
