About Mowbullan

Mowbullan is a rural locality in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, an unusual enclave entirely surrounded by the locality of Bunya Mountains. Its name comes from the Waka language, combining mau, meaning head, and balan, meaning bald, describing the treeless summit of Mount Mowbullan. The district was timber and sawmilling country, with a small school that operated from 1943 until 1950.
