About Montrose (Southern Downs - Qld)
Montrose is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland, about 30 km west-north-west of Warwick, with grazing on native vegetation as the main land use. The Cunningham Highway runs along its southern boundary and the South Western railway line crosses the north, where the locality was once served by the now-abandoned Montrose railway station. The name came from a pastoral run named by pastoralist St George Richard Gore after the Scottish town of Montrose.
