About Jackson

Jackson is a small town in the Maranoa Region of Queensland, on the Warrego Highway between Miles and Roma. Established around 1890, it grew around the Western railway line, whose station has since closed. The town is named after John Woodward Wyndham Jackson, a timber worker active in the district in the 1880s, and had a post office from 1908 until 1988.
