Hannaford is a remote pastoral locality on flat, semi-arid land in the Western Downs Region, approximately 45 kilometres west-south-west of Tara. The Surat Developmental Road and the Glenmorgan railway line pass through the locality, which supports cattle grazing and dryland cropping.
