About Greenwood (Qld)

Greenwood is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region of the Darling Downs in Queensland, located about 13 kilometres north of Oakey and 41 kilometres northwest of Toowoomba. The landscape features two notable peaks, Turkey Hill at 537 metres and Boah Peak at 532 metres, rising above the surrounding Darling Downs agricultural land used predominantly for crop growing with some grazing. A Lutheran congregation formed in 1899 and the first Evangelical Lutheran Church in Queensland opened around 1900, while Greenwood Provisional School operated from 1907 to 1968 serving the local farming community.
