About Blackswamp

Blackswamp is a rural locality in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, about 28 kilometres north-north-west of Chinchilla. The Great Dividing Range crosses through the locality, forming a drainage divide, and much of the area is covered by Barakula State Forest, the largest managed state forest in the Southern Hemisphere supplying cypress pine timber. The land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation with small areas of cropping, and the locality lies within the Surat Basin coal seam gas zone.
