About South Yaamba
South Yaamba is a rural locality in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, bounded by the Fitzroy River to the north and east. Situated about 27 kilometres northwest of Rockhampton along the Bruce Highway corridor, it is predominantly cattle grazing country typical of the central Queensland pastoral landscape. The name derives from the nearby town of Yaamba, believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning main camping ground.
