About Rockyview
Rockyview is a rural locality in the Livingstone Shire of Queensland, located 17.2 kilometres north of the Rockhampton central business district. The locality was the subject of a 2019 proposal to transfer it along with Glenlee and Glendale from Livingstone Shire to Rockhampton Region, driven by suburban growth pressures and the fact that residents used Rockhampton services. The proposal was rejected in October 2022. Dick Olive Park was upgraded in 2025 with a new inclusive playground and shaded picnic area. The conflict between Rockhampton Region wanting suburban development with smaller lots and Livingstone Shire preferring larger lots to retain rural character is a key local planning tension.
