About Retro
Retro is a sparsely settled rural locality in the Central Highlands Region of Queensland, lying roughly 30 kilometres north-west of Capella and 82 kilometres north of Emerald. The Retro Downs pastoral run was established by 1864 and managed by Gordon Sandeman and Oscar de Satge, who bred high-class sheep before the area transitioned to beef cattle grazing. The locality sits on the traditional lands of the Wangan and Jagalingou people and is characterised by open pastoral country on the Peak Downs.
