About Mount Mackay
Mount Mackay is a locality in the Cassowary Coast Region of Queensland, about 14 km east of Tully, and is fully occupied by Mount Mackay National Park, part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The locality takes its name from Mount Mackay, a 724-metre peak on its south-western side, while the centre of the locality lies in the valley of Carmoo Creek at about 10 metres elevation. The national park provides habitat for the mahogany glider and the southern cassowary.
