About Japoonvale

Japoonvale is a rural locality in the Cassowary Coast Region of far north Queensland, about 29 km south-west of Innisfail. The town of Japoon, in the north-east of the locality, was named by surveyor W.J. Callendar and is an Aboriginal word meaning eels. The district was served by the Stratvell State School from 1916 until 2002.
