About Cowley

Cowley is a small rural locality in the Cassowary Coast Region of Far North Queensland, approximately 20 kilometres south of Innisfail. The landscape is dominated by sugarcane and banana farming within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, with remnant rainforest and nationally significant wetlands nearby. The area takes its name from horticulturalist Ebenezer Cowley, overseer at the Kamerunga State Nursery.
