About Gaythorne
Gaythorne is a leafy residential suburb seven kilometres north-west of the Brisbane CBD in the City of Brisbane. Originally known as Rifle Range due to its proximity to the Enoggera military rifle range, the area was renamed Gaythorne in 1923 after a property owned by Howard Bliss. The railway station was built in 1916 to service troops during World War I and is a heritage-listed timber building. The suburb adjoins Enoggera Barracks and features predominantly Queenslander-style architecture, with many streets named after World War I sites.
