About Ashgrove
Ashgrove is a residential suburb of the City of Brisbane in Queensland, located five kilometres north-west of the Brisbane central business district. Known for its distinctive Ashgrovian houses from the 1920s and 1930s featuring asymmetric pyramid roofs, multiple gables and verandahs, the suburb was home to the Turrbal people before European settlement. First land sales were held in 1856 and Ashgrove State School opened in 1877. The tram line was extended from Red Hill in 1924. Notable landmarks include Marist College Ashgrove and the Waterworks Road shopping precinct.
