About Pine Creek (NT)

Pine Creek is a small town in the Katherine region of the Northern Territory, Australia, situated just off the Stuart Highway about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Katherine. One of the Territory's oldest towns, it was founded after alluvial gold was found while the Overland Telegraph Line was being built in the 1870s, and a railway from Palmerston reached the town in 1889. Heritage gold-mining sites and the former railway station, now a museum, survive from that era.
