About Milyakburra
Milyakburra is an Anindilyakwa Aboriginal community on the eastern shore of South Bay on Bickerton Island, between Groote Eylandt and Blue Mud Bay in eastern Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. It was established in 1975 as a family outstation and is the island's only permanent settlement. The community has a school, clinic and supermarket, a sealed airstrip and barge access into South Bay, and the island is Aboriginal-owned land represented by the Anindilyakwa Land Council.
