About Burt Plain

Burt Plain is a locality in the MacDonnell Region of the Northern Territory, about 1,249 kilometres south of the territory capital of Darwin and roughly 100 kilometres north of Alice Springs. Its name comes from the plain of the same name, named by W.W. Mills after A.G. Burt, his second-in-command during construction of the Overland Telegraph Line in 1871. The locality boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007.
