About Ali Curung
Ali Curung is an Indigenous community in the Barkly Region of the Northern Territory, about 170 km south of Tennant Creek. Known to its traditional owners, the Kaytetye people, as Alekarenge, a name linked to the Dog Dreaming, it was established in 1956 as the Warrabri settlement for people moved from the Phillip Creek station, and is home to Warlpiri, Warumungu, Alyawarra and Kaytetye people. The surrounding country is arid, with red sand plains and spinifex grassland.
